Company overview

Southwest Airlines Co. is a major U.S. airline, the world’s largest low-cost carrier, headquartered in Dallas, Texas.[3][4] It is the fourth largest airline by passenger traffic carrying 138 million passengers annually as of 2017[update] and operates around 4,000 flights daily.[5] The airline was established in 1967 by Herb Kelleher as Air Southwest Co., and adopted its current name in 1971 when it began operating as an intrastate air carrier within Texas,[6][7] following deregulation of the U.S. airlines industry that same year.[8][9] The airline has more than 60,000 employees (as of March 2019)[10], primarily throughout the United States but also maintains international operation bases providing service to Mexico and Costa Rica through subsidiary carriers Shuttle America (operating under brand “Ding!”)and Volaris respectively; these services were transferred from now-defunct AirTran Airways upon its acquisition by Southwest on May 2nd 2014 which allowed for domestic expansion outside southwest’s historic heartland market due to existing foreign ownership restrictions at US airports at time .[11]. As of July 2018 [update], Southwest carries the most domestic passengers of any U.S.-based airline.* In 2016, Southwest carried more domestic passengers than any other airline.

Investor’s reviews

“Southwest is a great airline company that I would recommend investing in. They consistently offer the best customer service of any major airline and have some of the most affordable fares around. Their planes are always clean and on-time, which makes traveling with them a breeze. Plus, their unmatched loyalty program provides plenty of opportunities for earning free flights and other perks.”

“Southwest Airlines is an absolutely amazing company to invest in! They consistently provide quality service and have a great safety record. The prices are unbeatable, and the employees always go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience. I couldn’t recommend them more!”

“Southwest Airlines Company is a venerable airline company that has been in business for over 40 years. They are the largest domestic airline company in the United States, and they have consistently been profitable every year since inception. Their planes are newer, their rates are lower than most other airlines, and they offer a very good customer experience. While there have been rumblings of turbulence in the industry as a whole recently – with bankruptcies at both American Airlines and Delta – Southwest appears to be weathering these storms quite well so far. Accordingly, I believe it is still an excellent investment option for those looking for exposure to the airline sector. Thanks!”
